Register for one of our mortgage workshops

Buying a home comes with big decisions (look at all those zeroes) (oh boy). But the mortgage process shouldn’t feel mysterious or overwhelming.
A how-to mortgage workshop for entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, freelancers, founders, gig workers, and small-business owners planning to purchase a home.
For over 30 years, I’ve helped self-employed buyers like you qualify for mortgages — even with income that doesn’t fit neatly into a W-2-shaped box. You built a business from scratch, buying a home should be a cinch. (Right?) So why does it feel like an obstacle course?
Give me an hour and I’ll show you why it feels harder than it should—and what to do about it.
What you’ll learn in this free, one-hour workshop
Why I teach workshops: the two-hat problem…
Most of us don’t get basic financial education in school—much less something as specialized and high-stakes as buying a home. If you’re lucky, you picked up sound financial instincts from your family. Others of us picked up a few “heirloom” habits that might best be unlearned. (I’m just sayin’.) There’s always Reddit, but a committee of anonymous friends probably shouldn’t have the last word when you’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.
So most people learn the details that actually matter from the people who sell them. That forces financial professionals to wear two hats: educator/coach… and also “please choose us so we can keep the lights on.” After 30+ years in lending, I’ve thought about this inherent tension a lot—and I’ve reached a conclusion: nobody looks good wearing two hats. Try it and look in the mirror. (Weird, right?)
The only viable option is to toss the “keep the lights on” cap into the closet and only ever wear the one that says “How can I help?” So, yes… I need to keep the lights on (and I’d be thrilled to help you with a mortgage someday). But the workshops are pure education. They’re the most wholesome part of my workweek. 😊
Come as you are and where you are: curious, skeptical, early in the process, or with a kaleidoscope of butterflies in tow because you just saw the perfect house. All are welcome here.
You’ll learn practical strategies, common pitfalls, and stuff no one explains until you’re in the heat of the moment (or sometimes at all)—the inside baseball I’d want my sister to know before starting a house hunt.
You’ll leave with a clear roadmap and next steps—whether you’re hoping to get pre-approved soon, building a plan for later, or just want the jargon to stop making such a racket so you can hear yourself think. Browse upcoming workshops, register for any that sound interesting, and if you want to ask a question or talk, reach out any time.
A note for real estate agents
If any of this resonates with you, we should talk. 😁 I love collaborating with like-minded agents—especially those with a heart for teaching.
